Dating back to the Yuan Dynasty, a hutong is a small lane or alleyway between courtyard residences in Beijing. Our hutong’s grey brick wall, stone floor, wooden doors, and windows with cracked-ice lattice work invite you back in time to an older Beijing.

As you enter, a 6-foot (2m) terra-cotta warrior greets you. He is an exact duplicate of the commanding general of the 6,000+ terra-cotta army of China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Huangdi. This army has survived for over 2,000 years buried in the ground surrounding Emperor Qin’s tomb.
