The Beijing Center (TBC) promotes research on the Church in China by young Chinese. Each year TBC awards stipends of $400 to $1,000 to students whose MA and PhD research focuses on the history of Christianity and/or aspects of the cultural exchange between China and the West. TBC has provided stipends for 18 young scholars since 2004.
Established scholars with a specific project in mind are also welcome to submit research proposals and apply for partial financial help. For instance, in July 2004, TBC awarded a two-year grant for an annotated publication in one volume of four rare Chinese books on the History of Christianity in China.
When research dictates that Chinese scholars come to TBC and other Beijing archives for consultation of resource materials, the Center can finance living expenses. These scholars often share with TBC students their current research topics.
