Dr. Zhang is an associate professor in comparative studies in Sino-Western film culture at the Beijing Film Institute. She has been an adjunct professor at the department of film at Ohio University and a guest professor at the Department of New Media Arts at Harbin Institute of Technology. Her work has been recognized by the Chinese Ministry of Broadcasting, Film and Television for excellence and innovation. Her research looks at the many influences and intersections where culture and creativity meet, both in film and in the world of artistic expression generally.
