Professor Zhang majored in American Literature, focusing on the work of Nathaniel Hawthorne. She has an M.A. from Heilongjiang University, and a B. A. in English Language and Literature from Qiqihaer University, in Heilongjiang. Her book on historical linguistics will be published by Peking University Press later this month.
