One-on-One Tutorial Sessions
Every week you will be required to have 5 to 8 hours of one-on-one tutorials with a personal tutor. During tutorials you will review the class material and work on improving specific areas of Mandarin. Your tutor will be a Chinese student from the University of International Business and Economics. Many tutors will have had at least one semester of experience or more in tutoring TBC students. Although all of them can speak very good English, Mandarin will mainly be spoken during the tutorials. Tutors have proven to help students make substantial progress with their Chinese language studies.Encountering China
The Chinese language is to be used, not simply studied. Students will have a unique opportunity to listen to guests who use the language in everyday life. From doctors, artists and master chefs, stud34nts will attend informal question and answer lectures using both Chinese and English.Language Pledge
Mandarin will be the only language used in the classroom building and in TBC offices. Additionally, during tutorial sessions, TBC-organized trips, and conversations with Chinese roommates, no other language than Mandarin is allowed to be used. At the beginning of the program, intermediate level students and above will take a strict pledge, while beginners will progress into the pledge. Chinese roommates and tutors will sign a language pledge at the beginning of the program too.
