Fr. Ron Anton, S.J.

Fr. Anton is the former Dean of the Sellinger School of Business at Loyola College in Maryland. He has established several international programs around the world. He is responsible for the overall vision and design of TBC, coordinates the China operations with the global Jesuit educational operations and the partner universities.

 

Prof. Yang Hengda

Professor Yang has taught literature at Renmin University since 1982. He is in charge of the overall running of TBC in Beijing. He handles relations with the host university and other Chinese officials; is in charge of the China-studies faculty and quality of the courses; coordinates the various facets of the program and supervises the other staff members.

 

Chris Gao

Chris graduated from University of International Business and Economics in 2006. He received his B.A. in Public Management. Before working for TBC full-time, he worked at Motorola Inc. for 6 months as a part-time assistant to the President. Now, he assists Fr. Ron Anton on ChinaContact programs, construction projects, and other administrative duties.

 
 

Chen Xin

Chen Xin graduated from Peking University in 2003 with his B.A. in Physics. In 2006, a tour through TBC got him interested in Chinese history, culture and the education of foreign students. Now as the research librarian in The Beijing Center, he is literally having fun everyday doing research, classifying materials, and helping students and library users seek information.

Dr. Russell Leigh Moses
Academic Dean, Dean of Faculty

Dr. Moses has been a graduate level professor at Renmin University, a professor at the Foreign Affairs College, and the John Hopkins University-Nanjing University Center for Chinese and American Studies. His work focuses on Chinese politics and policy, and he is currently finishing a book on the changing nature of political power in contemporary China.

 

Dr. Jean-Paul Wiest

Dr. Wiest received his Ph.D. in Chinese History from the University of Washington. Dr. Wiest is not only the current research director for TBC but a research fellow at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Department of Religion, and a visiting scholar at the University of Hong Kong¡¯s Centre of Asian Studies. He is fluent in Mandarin, English, and French.

 

Fr. Gene Geinzer

Fr. Geinzer graduated with a triple major in Classical Languages, Philosophy and Fine Arts from Spring Hill College in Alabama. He instructed in Fine Arts and lectured in the Philosophy of Art at Georgetown University, Holy Cross College, Santa Clara University, and Loyola University Chicago where he was also Chairman of the Fine Arts Department.

 
 

Shan Yanrong
Librarian

Ms. Shan is a typical Chinese wife and mother. she worked on an administrative staff for the women¡¯s and the worker¡¯s in a State Owned Enterprise for more than 20 years prior to coming to TBC in 1998. A mild, amiable and caring person, she takes an interest in each TBC student. Ms. Shan works as TBC¡¯s daytime librarian and manages the TBC office.

 

Alex Qian

Alex graduated and received his bachelor¡¯s degree from UIBE in 2006. He assists the Dean in academic affairs and cooridnates the Chinese language tutors. He dreams to spread Chinese culture and is willing to share his time with all TBC students answering any questions that he can.

     
             
 

Peg McKibbin

Ms. McKibbin worked for the Student Development Division at Loyola College for 20 years. After attending the Silk Road trip in 2000, she decided to move to Beijing and join the TBC staff. Peg is in charge of the student¡¯s education outside of the classroom. She is responsible for ensuring that the rules and regulations are adhered to and respected. She directs the host student, host family, and Chinese roommate programs as well as the local field trips and special dinners.

 

Miranda Ma

Miranda joined the TBC staff in 2003 as a UIBE graduate student. After recieving her M.A. in economics she decided to go full-time with TBC. She assists Ms. McKibbin with the host student, Chinese roommate and host family programs; in planning cultural, social and recreational activities, exploring internship, part-time jobs and volunteer opportunities. She resides in the International Student Dorm to assist students.

John took part in TBC's Chinese Roommate Program when he was a junior in UIBE. In 2007 he got his bachelor degree and joined the financial department in United Technology. But soon he got bored with financial data. Then he became a full-time employee of TBC. As residence assistant, he resides in the International Student Dorm and offers help to students when needed.

Justin Zhao

After graduating from Peking University, Justin joined TBC as Expeditions Coordinator. His main responsibilities are designing and arranging the academic excursions of TBC. He prepares reading material, pre-trip workshops and presentations for students. The opportunities of traveling with students and faculties, the planning of educational and adventurous journeys, together with research and lecture works, have made his time at the TBC very rewarding.

Chen Ning recieved his M.A. in information systems from the Beijing Institute of Technology. Before going to work at TBC part-time, he worked in a large IT company for one year. Now, he is in charge of overall IT aspect for TBC, including maintenance of offices, library, classrooms, and student study lounge computing systems.

Kevin graduated from UIBE with a B.A. in marketing. He started as a part-time employee before graduation. Now, Kevin is the full-time webmaster and coordinates with other computer issues around TBC. He is in charge of the overall Web aspect for TBC, and maintains student lab computing systems, makes IT suggestions and decisions.

After recieving his B.A. in international business with a minor in marketing, David came to work at TBC as their in-house creative. He assists all levels of TBC staff with any of their creative needs from flyers, presentations, apparel design, and more. Before studying at The Beijing Center in the fall of 2004, Greg did not speak Chinese or know much about China. The Beijing Center opened up a new world of language and culture for his who continues to study Mandarin and read everything he can about China.
