Dr. Bilik received his Ph.D. in linguistic anthropology and an M.A. in ethnology from China's Central Institute of Nationalities. He spent a year at Cambridge University attached to the Mongolian and Inner Asia Studies Unit. He was also a research fellow of the Common Security Forum at King's College, Cambridge.

Chen Lanyan

Dr. Chen is currently an adjunct professor in the Department of Women's Studies at the National Women's University of China and a professor at the Institute of Gender and Social Development Studies at Tian Jin Normal University. She was also the Gender advisor of the UN Development Fund for Women from 1998-2003.

Weng Naiqun

Dr. Weng teaches ethnology at the Institute of Nationality Studies at CASS and is the director of the Department of Anthropology and Culture. Prior to that appointment he taught ethnology and history at Beijing Normal University. He is also the lead researcher for a Ford Foundation-funded project on the construction of the Nanning-Kunming Railroad and the socio-cultural changes of the minorities along the line.

Zhang Haiyang

Prior to his appointment at the Central University of Nationalities, Dr. Zhang was a Fulbright scholar in the department of anthropology at Stanford University. He has done ethnological fieldwork with Yi, Muslim, Tibetan, and numerous other minorities in China. He was also the consultant on anthropology to the Ford Foundation in China and to the Chinese State Commission.
